Anneli Tuominen is Director General of the Financial Supervisory Authority in Finland (FIN-FSA), an integrated authority supervising the banking, insurance and securities markets sectors in Finland. The authority is responsible also for the macro-prudential supervision in Finland. She has served as Director General since February, 2007. She joined the FIN-FSA in 1996 and acted first as Deputy Director General in charge of the Capital Markets Department.
Prior to joining the FIN-FSA Ms Tuominen worked in the private sector.
Ms Tuominen is a voting member of the Supervisory Board of the ECB. She is also a voting member in the EBA (European Banking Authority), EIOPA (the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) and ESMA (the European Securities and Markets Authority) and a non-voting member in the ESRB (the European Systemic Risk Board).
Ms Tuominen is Vice-Chair of ESMA. In Finland she is a board member of the Finnish Financial Ombudsman Bureau.
Previously she chaired the Financial Innovation Standing Committee of ESMA for two terms (ended September 2015). She also chaired the Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation Sub-Committee of the Joint Committee (ended April 2016).
