Further testing and a revamped resolvability assessment approach at the heart of SRB’s 2026 work programme

The SRB publishes today its 2026 Annual Work Programme, setting out its objectives and priorities for the year ahead.

In 2026, the SRB will start implementing a revamped resolvability assessment and the newly developed multi-annual testing framework. It will also keep working on simplifying resolution planning to enable the shift towards more testing – all in close collaboration with the National Resolution Authorities (NRAs).

To maintain crisis readiness, the SRB will continue to organise deep-dives, gradually increase the implementation of its on-site inspections (OSIs) and carry out related training. It will further streamline decision-making processes, embrace digital innovation and support the ongoing debate on simplification and competitiveness in the EU financial sector. The SRB will also hold its first economic conference, a high-level platform to explore key economic issues related to resolution.

SRB Chair Dominique Laboureix said: “In 2026, we will keep moving from planning to action: building on the foundations laid in our SRM Vision 2028 strategy, we will intensify our testing, deepen our resolvability assessment and deploy our crisis-preparedness tools in close cooperation with the National Resolution Authorities. Our goal is clear — to ensure that banks are not only ‘resolvable on paper’ but also in practice.”

In 2026, we will also strengthen our contribution to thought leadership in the resolution domain. The SRB will hold its first international Economic Conference, providing a platform for dialogue between academia and policymakers on the economic aspects of resolution policy, drawing lessons from the past and anticipating challenges ahead.
