Claudia Buch is the Chair of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank.
She is a member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank, Group of Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS), Bank for International Settlements (BIS), of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision
In addition, Claudia Buch has been the Vice President of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the Bundesbank’s G20, G7, and IMF Central Bank Deputy.
Before joining the Bundesbank in 2014, she was the President of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), professor of economics at the Universities of Magdeburg and Tübingen, and member of the German Council of Economic Experts. She was awarded a doctoral degree and a habilitation (German post-doc degree) by the University of Kiel, and she studied Economics at the University of Bonn.
