We are deeply saddened by the tragic gas incident that occurred at the Single Resolution Board's Treurenberg premises in Brussels on Friday afternoon, 14 August.
All SRB staff had been safely evacuated from the building before the explosions occurred.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the firefighter who lost his life, and to those who were injured.
The SRB remains in close contact with the Belgian authorities and emergency services as they continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. We are grateful to the emergency services for their response and continued work.
The Treurenberg building will remain closed for the coming days. The SRB remains fully operational. Staff normally based at Treurenberg can work remotely or from our second location. The SRB continues its work and activities as usual, fulfilling its missions without disruption.
