
Géraldine Thiry is Executive Director at the National Bank of Belgium, where she is responsible for the Resolution Department, the Statistics Department, the Microdata Department, and the Bank’s data governance strategy. She is a member of the Plenary Session of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) and of the European Banking Authority (EBA) Resolution Committee. She also serves on the boards of the Interfederal Institute of Statistics (IIS) and of the National Accounts Institute (NAI), and contributes to the High-Level Task Force on the Integrated Reporting Framework (IReF).
Before joining the Bank, Géraldine pursued an academic career as a professor and researcher in economics. She holds a master’s degree in political science, two master’s degrees in economics, and a PhD in economics from the University of Louvain. Alongside her responsibilities at the National Bank of Belgium, Géraldine continues to be active in academia. She regularly teaches at the University of Louvain, and is frequently invited to present her research at conferences and academic seminars. She is also a full member of the Royal Academy of Belgium.
