Gonzalo Gasós is Senior Director of Prudential Policy and Supervision at the European Banking Federation (EBF). He is Secretary of the EBF Banking Supervision Committee, member of the Advisory Board of the European Banking Institute (EBI) and member of the European Commission’s Advisory Panel on non-performing loans (NPL).
Since 2010, he has contributed to the development of the Single Rulebook in Europe and the implementation of prudential standards in the EU liaising with policymakers and market stakeholders to assess the implications of the regulatory reform and to strike a balance between resilience and market competitive edge in the banking sector. He plays a leading role in the mutual collaboration between the banking industry and the European supervisory authorities created as an integral part of the Banking Union, the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Board.
Previously, Gonzalo worked for Santander Group participating in the international expansion of the banking group through various positions in the International Risk Division and as Basel Project Officer in Santander UK and EU subsidiaries.
He began his professional career as a management consultant in the Financial Services Division of Accenture.
He holds a master’s degree in Economic Science and Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma in Madrid. He completed post-graduate programs at IE Business School in Madrid and at IMD in Lausanne.
