
Clare Merrifield is Senior Legal Counsel at the Bank of England. Her focus is on resolution matters, ranging from working on resolutions and contingency planning, including SVB Bank, to advising on the Bank’s first recognition of a third country resolution action.
Clare also provides legal support on policy matters including the recent enhancements to the UK’s CCP resolution regime and she advises on MREL and BAU resolution planning. She joined the Bank in 2015 from Linklaters LLP, where she specialised in restructuring and insolvency law.
Her experience there included advising the administrators of Lehman Brothers International Europe on the return of trust assets to the bank's clients. Clare also spent time on secondment from Linklaters to the Insolvency Service and Goldman Sachs.
