Carla Díaz Álvarez de Toledo is, since 2026, Chair of FROB, the Spanish executive resolution authority, which has played a fundamental role in leading the process of banking sector restructuring in Spain and which is today responsible for the execution of resolution processes of financial institutions. She is also the Spanish representative on the Single Resolution Board Plenary and member of the Board of Directors of Sareb. She belongs to the Senior Corps of State Trade Specialists and Economists and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Comillas Pontifical University.
Her career has developed in the Spanish economic public sector, where she has held different management positions, including that of General Director of the Treasury and Financial Policy. Her responsibilities have included, among others, managing the Treasury and state debt; financial policy and the regulation of credit and financial institutions, securities markets, financial instruments, and investment services; as well as the protection of financial service customers. She has also been responsible for promoting sustainable finance, driving the digitalization of the financial sector, promoting financial literacy, preventing money laundering and terrorist financing and implementing international financial sanctions. In addition, she served as Director of Resolution at FROB, where she was responsible for promoting and coordinating the resolution powers entrusted to FROB regarding credit institutions and investment firms.
