Roberto Cercone has been working in the Bank of Italy since 1991 and is the Director of the Resolution and Crisis Management Unit. In this role he is a Member of the Single Resolution Board Plenary and Executive Sessions, the Resolution Steering Group of the Financial Stability Board as well as the Resolution Committees of the European Banking Authority and the European Securities and Markets Authority. He was Head of the Institutional Relations and Supervision Service of the Bank of Italy from September 2020 to December 2022, with responsibilities, among other things, for combating money laundering, handling relations with judicial, investigative and administrative authorities, granting banking licenses and market access, and sanctioning procedures. He has published several works on banking and financial crises and anti-money laundering. He has been a speaker at conferences and has held courses in banking law and lectures at the Universities of Macerata and Venice, at LUISS G. Carli in Rome and Cattolica in Milan.
