Vedant Agarwal is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL), an institution promoted by the Reserve Bank of India. His research focuses on how banking regulation shapes the feedback loop between the financial sector and the real economy, with an emphasis on the optimal design of regulation. He also works on corporate finance and firm dynamics, combining theory and empirics to develop a hedging-based perspective on entrepreneurship.

He received his PhD in Economics from Cemfi in 2025 under the supervision of Javier Suarez. During the Winter Term of 2024, he was a visiting PhD student at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE. He holds a Master’s degree in Specialized Economic Analysis from the Barcelona School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Delhi.
