
Raymond Frenken is a senior financial journalist and editor at Investment Officer, where he contributes strategic insight, in-depth reporting, and editorial leadership across the platform’s European editions.
He joined Investment Officer in 2022 and has since helped expand its cross-border editorial coverage, with a strong focus on institutional asset management, Luxembourg, European financial regulation, and private markets.
Mr Frenken previously served as director of communications at the European Banking Federation (EBF) in Brussels, a role he held from 2014 to 2021. During his eight-year tenure, he engineered a communications strategy that transformed the federation into a modern trade association, and played a key role in navigating the post-crisis regulatory environment and high-level banking sector reforms at the EU level.
Before that, he spent more than two decades in financial journalism, working as a correspondent and bureau chief for CNBC Europe, Bloomberg News and Dow Jones Newswires, in Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, and Zurich. He began his career in Amsterdam in the 1990s, covering European stock markets, central banks, and EU institutions.
A Dutch national, Mr Frenken studied at the London School of Economics and Strathclyde University in Glasgow, and obtained a degree in journalism in Tilburg, the Netherlands. He speaks English, Dutch, German and French.
