How did your experience at the SRB influence your career aspirations or goals, and what steps are you taking to achieve them?

Work at the SRB has truly expanded my ambitions to encompass a more diverse set of organisations and institutions. I have learnt that there are many interdisciplinary growth pathways for people who do not have strictly financial education within the banking and financial sector. I am taking this lesson with me on the exploration of future career opportunities.

Can you share a moment when you learned something meaningful from someone with a different background or viewpoint?

I have had an immense opportunity to work at the intersection of many teams with varying specialisations and differing core responsibilities. Thanks to that, I have gained a deep insight into the value of collaboration and opinion exchanges. Speaking to a diverse range of professionals has greatly assisted me in performing better and brining new ideas to the discussion table.

Were there any mentorship or networking opportunities that you found particularly valuable during your traineeship, and how did they impact your experience?

SRB’s induction training for newcomers was an invaluable experience amongst many others. I met experts from all over the EU who have immense knowledge and contribute to the orderly functioning of the SRM. Additionally, as a Blue Book trainee, I had an immense opportunity to visit Luxembourg with fellow trainees from EU institutions, meet with the Commissioner, and visit one of the Permanent Representations to the EU for a networking event. In a nutshell, I had an invaluable chance to attend both the SRB and wider EU events as a Blue Book trainee. Getting to know people within the SRB and understanding wider institutional dynamics has provided me with an unprecedented value and insight.

How has the Blue Book programme influenced your understanding of EU institutions or your future career path?

The SRB and Blue Book opportunities have introduced me to the field of EU public administration, assisted me in forging contacts within the financial governance framework and beyond, and broadened my horizons in the context of understanding EU work and careers within the EU. This has been an immensely valuable introductory experience that has enhanced my interest in pursuing a career in the EU institutions
