Claudia Buch is the Vice President of the Deutsche Bundesbank, and she oversees its directorates general Financial Stability, Statistics, and Internal Audit. She is the Alternate of the President on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank and the Bundesbank’s G20, G7, and IMF Central Bank Deputy. She is a member of the German Financial Stability Committee and the vice-chair of the Advisory Technical Committee (ATC) of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). Before joining the Bundesbank in 2014, she was the President of the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), professor of economics at the universities of Magdeburg and Tübingen, chairperson of the Board of Academic Advisors at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Technology, and member of the German Council of Economic Experts. Claudia Buch was the Scientific Director of the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IAW), Tübingen, and a researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. The University of Kiel awarded Claudia Buch a PhD and her habilitation (German post-doc degree). Claudia Buch studied Economics at the University of Bonn.
