Christian M. Stiefmueller, Senior Policy Adviser, Finance Watch
Mr. Stiefmueller is a senior adviser on policy research and advocacy at Finance Watch, a Brussels-based civil-society organisation representing citizens’ interests in Finance. His principal research focus is on financial stability and financial services regulation. He has been a legal and policy expert for international organisations, including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, as well as civil-society groups. He is the author of a number of publications on finance, innovation, and regulatory policy, and a regular speaker at international conferences.
Previously a senior investment banker, Mr. Stiefmueller has more than twenty years’ first-hand experience in the financial industry, working at major global banks. Over the years, he has served as an adviser to public and private corporates and financial investors on M&A, equity and debt capital markets transactions across a number of industries.
Mr. Stiefmueller holds graduate degrees in Law and Applied Languages from the University of Innsbruck and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
