Anneli Tuominen has been an ECB Representative on the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) – Banking Supervision since June 2022. Her responsibilities include the areas of crisis management, supervisory reporting and statistics, and fit and proper supervision.

She was Director General of Finland’s Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA) between 2007 and 2022 and a Member of the ECB’s Supervisory Board between November 2014 and May 2022. The FIN-FSA is an integrated authority covering banking, insurance and securities markets, and anti-money laundering. It is also the macroprudential authority in Finland.

Ms Tuominen joined the FIN-FSA in 1996, first heading the Capital Markets Department. Previously she worked in the private sector. While at the FIN-FSA, she was a voting member of the European Banking Authority (EBA), European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and a non-voting member of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). In 2021 she acted as Interim Chair of ESMA for seven months. Ms Tuominen was also a Board Member of the Finnish Financial Ombudsman Bureau (FINE).
