Mr. Johan Thijs became Chief Executive Officer of KBC Group in 2012. He is also member of the Board of Directors of KBC Group NV and Chairman of Febelfin ASBL.
He joined KBC in 1989, at Product Development & Actuary, Life & Non life, ABB Insurance. In 1995 he became manager of the Limburg regional office, ABB Insurance. In 1998 he was appointed Regional manager Limburg and Eastern Belgium at KBC Insurance. In 2001 he became Senior General Manager non-life insurance at KBC Insurance and in 2006 Member of the Management Committee of the KBC Belgium Business Unit. In 2009 he joined the Executive Committee of KBC Group as CEO of the Belgium Business Unit.
He studied at the Catholic University of Leuven, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Sciences (Applied Mathematics) and Actuarial Sciences. He also attended a Senior Executive Programme in Leadership, Strategy & Innovation at the London Business School in 2008.
